General English

In order to achieve fluency and accuracy, students will need to work on and improve all of their key English skills. We want to make sure that they get the most out of your lessons, and our General English course will focus on the following: speaking and listening, pronunciation, reading and writing, grammar and vocabulary. Our teachers will use and adapt materials from different sources, including textbooks and to keep the content relevant, practical and up-to-date.

Business English

Being able to communicate in English is a vital and crucial skill to have in the professional world. As an English speaker, students can often benefit from higher salaries in countries where English is not the first language. Additionally, this increases your chances of having an international career. This course is designed to expand their vocabulary and to master words and phrases that relate to the modern day work environment.

This programme will allow the students to make the most of job opportunities in their industry. Students will have the opportunity to learn practical workplace language. This course is designed specifically for those who are required to use English in their studies, jobs or for those taking internships/apprenticeships.

The course content is bespoke and personalised for the group, but popular topics include:

  • Useful office terms, expressions and phrasal verbs used in Business
  • Vocabulary related to business
  • Written business communication such as letters, emails, and reports
  • Writing executive summaries
  • Managing phone calls
  • Making professional presentations using PowerPoint
  • Business negotiations
  • Recruitment practices and procedures
  • Presenting and describing data and trends
  • Participating in and hosting meetings

Students will receive a certificate with an accurate description of the language competence using the CEFR for languages.

Student enrolment process

  1. Enrolment form sent
  2. After receipt of your enrolment form, we send you an acceptance letter sent
  3. Confirmation Letter and a welcome pack upon receipt of the fees payment

 

  • Course start first Monday September, January and July except bank and public holidays
  • Number of hours: 15 hours per week (Speak to our team for more hours)
  • Levels: Elementary to Upper Intermediate

English Level Overview

In a few weeks:

  • Have the ability to shop or travel with basic English
  • Know the fundamentals of English pronunciation
  • Know how to conjugate basic verbs.

By the end of this level:

  • Make simple sentences and reply to simple questions
  • Talk about likes/dislikes, family and routines
  • Discuss and describe their work day.
  • Order a meal in a restaurant
  • Discuss future plans and arrangements
  • Describe their skills and abilities
  • Understanding how to form sentences and write at a comprehensive level.

By the end of this level:

  • Speak with confidence: Introduce themselves and others
  • Start and hold a conversation in English about topics of interest
  • Read, Write and understand simple written texts
  • Understand a wider range of grammar tenses and vocabulary.

By the end of this level:

  • Take part in routine and spontaneous conversations
  • Write & understand more complex written text
  • Improve their listening comprehension with the ability to understand most of the general meaning of lectures, meetings, TV programmes, educational videos.
  • extract basic information from a written document
  • Expand their range of more difficult grammar and extend their vocabulary.

By the end of this level:

  • Take part in extended conversations, discussions and debates.
  • Write and understand most text, including composing a simple essay
  • Comprehends the majority of TV programmes, presentations or lectures, but not technical or theoretical information
  • Expand on grammar and vocabulary range

By the end of this level:

  • Take part in lengthy conversations & discussions
  • Write and understand most text including formal, academic and professional documents
  • Easily comprehend TV, plays, films, lectures and presentations.

To improve:

  • Increase your understanding of the nuances of the language
  • Engage in independent reading to develop your vocabulary further
